T.W. Fendley is an award-winning author of historical fantasy and science fiction for adults and young adults.

She fell in love with ancient American cultures while researching story ideas at the 1997 Clarion Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers’ Workshop. Since then, Teresa has trekked to archeological sites in the Yucatan, Peru, and American Southwest.

She began writing fiction in 2007 after working more than 25 years in journalism and corporate communication. When she’s not writing, Teresa explores the boundaries of consciousness through remote viewing and shamanism. She currently lives near St. Louis with her artist husband and his pet fish.

Bio:

With a bachelor’s degree in journalism tucked in her purse, T.W. Fendley began her professional career in 1980 as managing editor of a small-town daily in southern Arkansas. Three years later, she returned to her hometown of Little Rock as a reporter for the statewide daily.

In 1986, she began a 20-year career in corporate communications that took her to New Orleans, Washington D.C., and St. Louis. During those years, she held various positions that called upon her skills as a writer, photographer, editor, TV and radio spokesperson, communications consultant and manager. While in New Orleans, the Crescent City Writers and George Alec Effinger’s science fiction workshop introduced her to fiction writing. Fendley attended the 1997 Clarion Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Workshop, where she fell in love with ancient American cultures while researching story ideas.

And then the REAL fun began! In 2007, she started writing fiction full-time. Her debut historical fantasy, ZERO TIME, was named Best Science Fiction Fantasy Novel in the 2011 P&E Readers’ Poll. It was also a finalist for the Missouri Writers’ Guild 2012 Major Work Award and a semifinalist in the 2012 Kindle Book Awards. She’s written two young adult speculative fiction novels, THE LABYRINTH OF TIME and MOONBLOOD, and an adult science fiction novel, METHUSELAH’S LEGACY.

She took second place in the 2011 short story Writer’s Digest Horror Competition and won the 9th NASFiC 2007 short story contest. Her short stories are available on Kindle and Audible. Fendley serves on the board of the St. Louis Writer’s Guild and belongs to the Missouri Writers’ Guild and Broad Universe.
